Background

Hoyland Town Junior Football Club was first established in August 1997. When the club was formed it was known as Greenfield Football Club. This was due to all the players at that time attending the same school, Greenfield, and the school not having a football team.

The first competitive season for the football club was 1998/99 when we competed in the Rotherham Junior Sunday League. At the start of the 2000/2001 season the club had two teams competing at under 9 and under 13 levels in the Rotherham based Millennium League. At the start of the 2001/2002 season the club changed its name to Hoyland Town Junior Football Club as at the time there was not a junior team in the village of Hoyland and the majority of players had their roots in the village and were proud to be associated with their local village football team. We had at this time outgrown our humble beginnings as Greenfield Football Club.

Our club is based on some sound basic principles of enjoyment for the kids, good discipline and respect for coaches, players, parents and opposition (see our Code of Conduct), a willingness to expand our operation as appropriate and to bring football to as many people within the village and surrounding areas as possible.

Oh! and, nearly forgot, we also have a genuine passion for the beautiful game!
